SLOWDIRT has been meticulously developed over years of research to capitalize on specific soil life already existing in rich, organic soils and soil mixes. Our emphasis is focused on maximizing the highest potential in Chitinase production from Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus laterosporus and Bacillus thuringiensis. The potent soil fungi Trichoderma harzianum as well as powerful soil metabolizers Streptomyces- S. rimosus, S. aureofaciens and S. griseus. These naturally occurring micro-friends will build a strong defensive position and help anything you grow, thrive. This robust matrix of active enzyme and hormone production moves throughout the soil and upper plant tissues creating an inhospitable environment for soft-bodied insect pests and harmful soil pathogens to proliferate. Our improved formula contains 19 raw ingredients, live Humates, plus Endo and Ecto Mycorrhizal fungi for a balanced supply of nutrients at all stages of plant growth.
Food for Thought
Often times a premium organic potting soil or mix can be known to “come in hot.” Meaning that it is blended during manufacturing to already contain nutrient inputs and that will vary between companies. Be sure to check the label data on the brand you choose for its contents. The formula for Slowdirt has been developed to dramatically improve living soil potentials. Our primary focus is natural pest defense, but there is also nutritive quality in our ingredients to create that. We achieved outstanding results with our recommended application rates during years of trials using neutral based potting soils, preferably with some active microbial life, like Fox Farms Ocean Forest . We are also fans of brands such as Royal Gold mixes and Roots Organics. Check your soil pH regularly if growing in containers. Ideal soil pH for growth and flowering is between 6.7-6.9 pH. De-chlorinate as required if it’s a municipal water source.
For container gardeners or indoor cultivators doing on-site, bulk soil mixing, add and thoroughly blend 10 lbs. of Slowdirt to ½ yard of soil mix, or 20 lbs. to 1 yard. Top dress as directed every 3-4 weeks.
