Humble Beginnings

As a graduate in horticulture, nursery production and permaculture, Jeff has over 30 years of experience in the gardening, medicinal and organic food production industries, along with extensive studies in soil sciences. Diane is a registered nurse, with over 29 years in the field of nursing. She has been witness to what poor nutrition and the ramifications of ingesting toxic foods and poisonous exposure can do to the human body. The old techniques of pest and disease management destroy the natural microbial communities. When these practices are used, you destroy natures ability to self-regulate and defend the ecosystem. We both knew it was time to take a step back and foster a wiser approach.

The Earth has had it right all along.

It all begins in the soil. This is why Slowdirt was developed. Our goal is to provide an effective balance and integrated defense system to the soils that nourish our food and ancient medicines. The plants we eat, smoke or steep depend on a fertile and stable organic matrix in which to grow. With over two decades of research and experience it’s become clear that if you’re not growing your soil first, you’re just growing bug food.
